Remember that song? Lou Reed, 1972, been played like a jillion times.  I’m too young to remember the song when it came out (swear), but I’ve heard it often enough that I don’t have to make up words when I sing along.  Lou passed away last month so the tune is making a resurgence, like all good things.  I took this picture maybe a week ago and I couldn’t put it in place, I liked almost everything about it…almost…but I didn’t feel the connection.  Sax Shepherd sent these awesome shoes to me, his entry in Shoetopia (whoot whoot), and I so wanted to do them justice.

 

So anyway, I kept looking at the picture, showed it to people on my phone asking what I could name it.  You wouldn’t believe some of the stupid shit some people will come up with… or funny shit…or way to artsy fartsy shit (that’s a technical art term, I hope I didn’t lose anyone).  I’d been at a wake for over 24 hours and I was a little loopy and somebody (asshat cousin, but that’s sooo another story) took my iphone off the speaker and put his on cause he didn’t like my music.  Who does that!!??  I had enough Guinness in me that I was this close to having a throw down, but I pretend to be a classy ass chick on occasion and my mom would not have been proud of me…so he lives another day (side note…my dad would have been real proud of me :)).  As I was picturing smashing the pot of gumbo over his head, I vaguely heard the music and caught someone by me say that the sax solo at the end was the best part.  Thus ensued a 20 minute “discussion” on great sax songs among more than a few drunks.  My mind moved to my picture and my Sax shoes and I wanted to go home and put a sax in it right then.  The song?  Walk on the Wild Side 🙂
