That time of year is almost upon us … at least for the “us” down in New Orleans and surrounding areas.  Mardi Gras Day is actually not till March 5th this year but the season is upon us.  King cakes are happily consumed, decorations are going up, everybody’s getting their outfits in order.  After tomorrow (cause until then everyone will be wearing a Saint’s shirt…lets not even go there) peeps will start wearing the colors and planning around parades.  In the next few weeks there will be scattered specialized parades in the city, but when you get to 2 weeks before the actual day, there is at least 2 or 3 parades every night (and day on Sundays) in and around the city. My parents didn’t have a lot of money…we literally never went on a family vacation…but they were avid parade goers and this was honestly considered our vacation time.  We’d get home from school, change, and would leave the house as soon as my dad got home from work, park in the same place on the parade route and walk to get dinner before the parade.  My mom would always have cookies and such for a snack during the parade…and of course, you could always count on catching a moon pie or two for dessert.  Every night for 2 weeks straight.  When you’re a kid…that’s just magical…and truly some of my best memories. ❤

All of this is for a reason!  The Liaison Collaborative opens tomorrow at 3pm and the theme is Mardi Gras…so you can start picking up all the outfits and decor that you need …cause everyone’s an honorary Who Dat for the season ❤
